I’d love to share with you one thing that I’ve been doing every day consistently through this full summer that is really helping keep me balanced.
Flower water. So simple, and so sweet.
Every morning I go out and pick some fresh flowers or herbs and put them in a ball jar, and cover them with water. I drink and refill this jar throughout the day.
You’ll want to use flowers or plants that are edible or medicinal, or even culinary herbs.
While making teas with some of these plants provides the dense mineral value, drinking flower water daily is a nurturing energetic practice.
It feels like the essence of the flowers and plants is transferred into the water. It also creates a wonderful taste. When I do this, my water feels more alive… and it feels like it enlivens my cells, and something within my energetic being. It keeps me feeling balanced and well hydrated. And the act alone is one of self care, and promotes the connection with the plants. You know, take the time to stop and smell the flowers, right? It’s like that, but you carry this essence with you throughout the day.
Some of my favorites to add are wild rose, tulsi, yarrow, calendula, borage, St. John’s Wort, sage, thyme, comfrey flowers, red clover blossoms, rosemary, and more.
Some of these plants are cultivated in my garden , but also there are many medicinal/edible flowers that grow in the wild as well.
Maybe you’ll want to join me in this little sweet summer ritual! It’s good care for our spirits, the quiet gentle parts that need tending, regularly, to help us feel whole.
